Auditor General To Investigate Trudeau Government Contracts With Shady IT Company

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – After nine years, this NDP-Liberal government is not worth the cost or the corruption. This is evident through Trudeau’s $60 million ArriveScam app, which could have been developed for a fraction of the price, and ended up enriching GC Strategies, a shady two-person IT company who did no actual IT work.

Yesterday, the Auditor General confirmed that her office is launching an investigation into GC Strategies, who have received over $100 million in contracts from the NDP-Liberal government since Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister. Many of these contracts were sole-sourced, meaning Trudeau Government officials offered contracts worth millions of dollars directly to this company. On the ArriveScam app alone, GC Strategies pocketed nearly $20 million from the taxpayers on an app that was only supposed to cost $80,000.

As a result of this, the Auditor General has agreed to audit all payments and contracts GC Strategies had with the Government of Canada, beyond the ArriveScam app debacle.

GC Strategies and its partners have become multimillionaires under the Trudeau government. They have admitted that they were paid up to $2,600 per hour for “recruiting,” and have billed the government up to 1,500 times per month. GC Strategies was formed as a company in 2015 and began receiving government contracts just weeks after Trudeau took office.

Over the past year, more and more revelations have emerged about GC Strategies’ unethical behaviour. They have bragged about having close connections with officials within the Trudeau Government and were called to the bar of the House of Commons to answer questions after they refused to appear at Committee. Earlier this year, GC Strategies founder, Kristian Firth, had his house raided by the RCMP as part of their ongoing investigation into the ArriveScam app.

Canadians deserve a government that will treat their tax dollars with respect. Only Common Sense Conservatives will continue to fight to get to the bottom of how Justin Trudeau gave millions of dollars to this shady company.
