Latest from Lantsman – August 16, 2024

After over a month of Conservative pressure, Trudeau’s choice to protect your human rights finally announced this week that he’s quitting.

Yes — the guy who argued that terrorism could be considered a “rational” and “well-calculated strategy” with “surprisingly high success rates”. The guy who shared a stage with people who have known links to radical organizations. The guy with a long history of antisemitic diatribes that anyone could have Googled.

This is a victory for everyone who values religious freedom, tolerance of others, and responsible government. It’s a victory for our values of decency, honesty, and accountability.

But I want to point out that after all this, the government still didn’t fire him. He quit. There’s a big difference, and it speaks volumes.

There will be much more to come, and the fight doesn’t stop here. We know there will be more scandals, more outrageous headlines, and yes — more antisemites. But we’ll be there to call them out every step of the way.

Onwards and upwards — towards a Conservative majority government with Pierre Poilievre as our Prime Minister.

Yours,

Melissa Lantsman
Member of Parliament for Thornhill
Deputy Leader of Canada’s Conservatives

Fighting Antisemitism in Canada

Fires near our Jewish institutions. Antisemitic graffiti on our kosher grocery stores, businesses, and synagogues. Gunshots, firebombings, genocidal chants in our streets.

Jews are under threat in Canada like never before – and Justin Trudeau’s government responds with silence.

I will never stop fighting for you and with you, led by Pierre Poilievre and Common-Sense Conservatives, for our safety, for our security, and for our freedom.

Working Hard for You

More summer celebrations in Thornhill.

Thanks to Gary and the Reena team for having me at your Caribbean Party this week!

Thank you to Safehaven for having me at your Thornhill facility. Across the GTA, Safehaven supports over 200 kids and adults with medical complexities through pediatric residential, pediatric respite, pediatric transitional and adult residential care.

They’re looking to expand their facility and programs to help even more people in our communities.

Thanks to Susan, Mary, the team, and nurses for showing me around and introducing me to some of your clients.

Last week, I visited Ron Beker and his team at Beker Fashions. Thanks for showing me where all the fashion magic happens, and congrats on 101 years in business!

Popped into Thornhill’s annual community Rib Fest. Got on the grill with MPP Laura Smith.

Thanks to everyone who puts this together year after year. 🙏

Honoured once again to join One Family Fund Canada & Camp Timberlane – for the end of a transformative program that has been running since 2006 and creates a chance to build lifelong bonds between two countries, campers and councillors alike. They will always have a welcome home here in Canada. 🇨🇦

With MP Michelle Ferreri in Peterborough

Thanks to Constable Tim Fish from Peterborough Police for taking us on a ride along. Eye-opening. Thank you for everything you do for the community and for your 18 years of service on the force.

We also heard from business owners in Peterborough, who just like business owners across the country, know that Justin Trudeau’s soft-on-crime policies and his lunatic drug policies are just not worth the cost or the chaos.

Some more fun with Michelle visiting Camp Moshava in Ennismore. Thank you all for the warm welcome!

We finished by visiting Julie’s fundraiser for Jude’s Joy where they’re raising money to build an accessible park for children with varying abilities.

Michelle, you’ve got a great community. Thanks for showing me around!
