Newsletter – December 13th

Latest from Lantsman – December 13, 2024

It’s my last newsletter before the holiday season. Allow me to wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, or a happy whatever else you celebrate.

After 9 years of Justin Trudeau, this time of year will be difficult for many Canadians. We have thousands living on the streets because they can’t find housing or can’t get help. 2 million people using a food bank in just 1 month. Many more cutting back or skipping Christmas presents just to get by.

If you can, please think of them — give to a local charity, volunteer for an afternoon, contribute to a toy drive — anything to bring a little light to all the darkness in this country.

Despite all our challenges, there is much to be grateful for. Better days are ahead. I know they are.

Yours,

Melissa Lantsman

Working for You

Hanging out with the students at Charlton PS in Thornhill.

They had a lot of great questions about the federal government and what it’s like working up in Ottawa. I know they’re going to make great community leaders in the future 💪💪

And shoutout to my friend Trustee Estelle Cohen for always taking care of the students here and across York Region.

With my friends Chris Ainsworth and Laura Smith at Bakersfield Public School. Celebrating their Toy Mountain toy drive! 🎁🧸

Thanks to all the students, staff, and community leaders for helping make the holidays a little bit brighter for GTA families this year with your food and toy donations. ⭐️ Keep up the great work! 💪

Talking common sense with the energized team in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell 🔥🔥🔥

Canadians are ready for an election – a carbon tax election – so Conservatives can fix what Trudeau broke and finally axe the tax, build the homes, fix the budget, and stop the crime. 🇨🇦

It can’t come soon enough. Thanks for having me.

Real progress means real responsibility – not tokenized gender-balanced cabinets and a humankind dictionary.

Thank you to Equal Voice for inviting me back to speak against the platitudes of the last 9 years. Here’s to women everywhere who have risen to the amazing positions they deserve because of merit, excellence, and intelligence – not quotas.

Working for you in Ottawa

Gathered with friends in Ottawa for an early celebration of the miracle of the menorah and the resilience of the Jewish people.

Thank you to everyone from across the country who joined us with the future PM of Canada – Pierre Poilievre, and hosts Marty Morantz, Shuv Majumdar, Don Stewart, and so many others in caucus.

Chag Chanukah Sameach! 🕎

The Finance Minister will soon learn that in any other job, you can’t turn in your work weeks after it’s due. So how much more winter snow needs to hit the ground before she’ll release the FALL economic statement?

Where is the Canada-first plan to keep our borders secure?

This is the housing crisis in Canada after 9 years of Justin Trudeau.

Enough with the photo ops. Enough with the bad ideas. Conservatives are going to axe the tax so we can build the homes and finally bring home a country where hard work pays off once again – where affordable housing gives way to the Canadian Dream we all want to achieve.

Discussing opportunities for Abraham Accords in Canada, and understanding the effectiveness of the framework for a future of normalization and co-operation.

Thank you to GIC for putting this together in Ottawa this week. It was an honour to join you alongside my colleague Shuv Majumdar.

Why is the Prime Minister so mean to the Finance Minister?

Better question: Why is she so incompetent?

Honoured to join the launch of the Canadian Caregiver Caucus on Parliament Hill. Caregivers are the backbone of our families – they deserve a government that will bring them home powerful paychecks and ensure their hard work pays off. Thank you to Reena and the Azrieli Foundation for all your hard work on bringing this amazing team of advocates, community leaders, and changemakers to Ottawa.

Celebrating Christmas in Ottawa with the Christian community from across the country 🇨🇦

Thanks Tim Uppal, Garnett Genuis, Arpan Khanna, and Richard Bragdon for putting this event together.

We need a Canada-first plan to fix what the Prime Minster broke.

Lantsman in the News

Concordia Dean walks away without explanation when confronted by Arab-Israeli speaker who’s speech was cancelled just one hour before his event. Listen to my conversation with Ben Mulroney on this latest example of the rampant antisemitism plaguing campuses in Canada.

That’s everything that’s happening in my world. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the latest.
