Newsletter – December 9th

The holidays are almost here and I’m sure you’re busy preparing for the upcoming season: decorating your house, buying gifts, making plans with loved ones, and more.

I’m also getting ready on my end with things like the annual Hanukkah on the Hill celebration and our constituency food drive (information below). I can’t wait to celebrate with you in Thornhill!

I love to support local events and see Thornhillers out in the community. If you’re hosting something in the coming weeks – please let me know so I can stop by if possible.

Here’s the latest on what’s happening in Ottawa, Thornhill, and beyond:

Holiday Food Drive

The holiday season is upon us, a time for joyful reunions with those we love, a time to reflect on our good fortune, and remember those in our midst who have less.

If you have a little extra for those who might need it. Drop by. We’ll take care of the rest.

More Antisemitism in Ottawa

Last week, Canadian Members of Parliament, including Transport Minister Omar Alghabra, met with and hosted a dangerous antisemite, Holocaust denier and Hamas sympathizer.

Nazih Khatatba praised the heinous murder of 16-year-old Canadian Aryeh Schupak as a “quality operation” by Palestinians. It is reprehensible that Canadian elected officials associate with those who praise the antisemitic slaughter of Canadian citizens.

When I confronted Minister Alghabra in the House of Commons, he couldn’t even bring himself to apologize.

It’s a pattern. They don’t care.

Green Party Leader says she takes marching orders from Palestine

WATCH: Elizabeth May Says She Takes Her

The Leader of the Green Party, Elizabeth May, had this to say about Canada’s relationship with Palestine:

“I take marching orders from the official representative of Palestine to Canada.”

Elected officials kowtowing to foreign entities is dangerous.

Working for you in Thornhill

It was special to be a part of the opening of the Mayim Aquatic Centre & Elkie Adler Hydrotherapy Pool at Kayla’s Children Centre. This project has been a labour of love from so many, knowing that an entire community of people with disabilities will have access to this highly specialized, centre of excellence is thanks to the incredible generosity of a community like no other and the vision of the leaders at KCC who know no bounds.

Working for You in Ottawa

This week’s Hanukkah on the Hill celebration is an important reminder that light will always triumph over darkness. We have lots of work to do in 🇨🇦. An early Chag Hunukkah Sameach – can’t wait to celebrate in Thornhill!

It was my pleasure to welcome guests from Baguio City, Philippines to Ottawa. Our dear friend Erlinda Ensigne has made the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Twinning between the City of Vaughan, Canada and Baguio City, Philippines special. 🇵🇭

I met with Una Gair and the Union of Safety and Justice Employees to talk about how to keep employees safe, mentally and physically, when working in our federal corrections system. Thank you for taking the time to go over such an important issue with me.

I met with the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs who are raising awareness on the difficulties of finding and retaining volunteer firefighters as well as improving access for firefighters to cancer prevention and treatment.

At the House of Commons

Ontario’s Superior Court has officially ruled that the IRGC is a terrorist entity under Canadian laws. Will the Liberal government accept the ruling and finally ban the IRGC?

The Auditor General’s report confirmed what we’ve known all along – the Liberals’ wasteful spending has led us to our cost-of-living crisis. Canadians deserve to know what’s going on.

Instead of giving an RCMP equipment contract to a Quebec-owned company, the Liberal government awarded the contract to a company that is partially owned by the Chinese government and is on the hook for 21 charges of espionage. The US black-listed them – we gave them a contract.

Watch my speech on the Conservative Opposition Motion to remove the Carbon Tax on food, transportation, and more:

Across Canada

Iranian-Canadians across this country are united in their pursuit for freedom and human rights for Iran and for stronger action against the tyrannical regime. Honoured to join Calgary’s Iranian community along with my CPC colleagues, Tom Kmiec and Greg McLean, to demand action from the Liberals.

Took a little drive from Calgary to Blackfalds to see my friends Blaine Calkins & Damien Kurek to talk about the what the future of a prosperous and productive Canada looks like under new management. It’s hard to imagine a strong Canadian economy without Alberta’s clean and ethical energy sector, its farmers and its entrepreneurial spirit. A warm welcome from so many focused on real solutions.
