Newsletter – June 9th

After eight years of this Liberal government, Canada is broken and Canadians are hurting.

We got new confirmation of that this week, as the Bank of Canada raised interest rates for the ninth time in less than two years.

Families are already struggling under the burden of out-of-control inflation, housing prices that have doubled, and record high gas prices. For many, higher interest rates and the higher mortgage and loan payments that come with them will be the last straw.

Canada’s Conservatives are standing up on Parliament Hill for the people who are struggling just to get by under this Liberal government.

The first thing we need to do? Stop the spending that drives up the interest rates we pay and the cost of the goods that we buy.

But the Liberals have chosen the opposite approach with $60 billion in new spending and even more tax increases in their latest budget.

Conservatives spent hours and hours on Parliament Hill trying to block the new budget and save Canadians from the impacts of the higher inflation and interest rates that the Liberal plan will bring.

Pierre Poilievre even broke a parliamentary record for the longest speech ever given in the House of Commons, but the Costly Coalition wouldn’t listen – they passed the budget yesterday.

They didn’t listen to our voices and they don’t listen to the voices of the everyday people who are being left behind.

I want to assure you – I do. Conservatives do. Your calls, your texts, your emails are important to me and I hear your feedback loud and clear.

I’ll keep fighting for you and our team will keep fighting for you. Take a look below to see how we’re doing that. As always, thank you for your support and your encouragement.

Let’s bring it home.

Passport Clinic – Part III

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us at our third Passport Clinic! Huge thanks to our dedicated staff, students and volunteers who helped me. 🙏❤️

While we have been working hard in Parliament to fight for Canadians, our most important work happens right here, helping our neighbours access what they need. Always feel free to contact our office with any questions about government services.

Head-to-Head with the Heritage Minister

I faced off with the Minister of Canadian Heritage and confronted him on C-11, Laith Marouf, and more. Here are the highlights:

The Heritage Minister can’t even answer questions about his own censorship bill, C-11. He’s confused about the legislation. Canadians are confused, too. We’ll scrap it. It’s simple.

The Minister gives the CRTC 19 million dollars to publish his talking points about his censorship bill, C-11.

Working Hard in Ottawa

I went face-to-face with the Finance Minister – she can’t even answer the basic questions that Canadians have about her inflationary deficits and never-ending debt, balanced budgets or any numbers at all. It’s time for the common sense of the common people in the people’s house.

David Johnston should not be the special rapporteur, and there shouldn’t even be a special rapporteur.

End the Liberal cover-up. Start getting real answers for Canadians.

I welcomed Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli to the Parliamentary Friendship Group. He was here for the historic celebration of Jerusalem Day on Parliament Hill with the Israel Allies Caucus.

There is conflict of interest, and then there’s this. What the hell is going on with the special rapporteur?

The Liberal budget is the work of a Finance Minister who says one thing and does another. She won’t answer a single question asked of her in the House of Commons and lectures Canadians who don’t agree with her.

Conservatives will deliver lower prices and powerful paychecks by capping spending, ending the deficits, and scrapping BOTH carbon taxes.

Enough with reckless Liberal spending. Enough with their tax increases. Enough with Chrystia Freeland’s condescension.

Canadian Hadassah-WIZO is a national organization that empowers women and supports at-risk women and children in Israel and Canada.

Thanks to the team for stopping by my office to speak about their inspiring mission and about how we can make our communities safer for everyone.

Years ago, I started my own journey on Parliament Hill as an intern.

It was inspiring to meet with the next generation of leaders in this year’s Conservative Internship Program. The future of Canada is in good hands!

Interest rates are going up yet again thanks to out-of-control Liberal spending. How many Canadians will have to lose their houses before the Prime Minister balances a budget?

Working Hard in Thornhill

This Asian Heritage Month, I was honoured to attend the Asian Heritage Carnival in Markham put on by my friend and school trustee Jenny Chen to celebrate the diversity, success, and many contributions from Canadians of Asian heritage. Thank you for the beautiful show and celebration.

I had Persian tea and a good conversation with the Iranian community, organized by my friend Salman Sima. I met with students, refugees, former political prisoners, activists, and journalists.

While we might watch from afar the gross human rights violations in Iran, they hit closer to home than we know as they directly affect the families and loved ones of those in our own country. Canada needs to take a bold stance again the terrorist regime in Iran and be a strong ally for freedom globally.

Thank you to the Catholic Community Services of York Region for the tour and for the important work they do for newcomers to Canada. In a broken Canada, their vision of hope and compassion is more important than ever.

Woofapalooza is an annual festival that supports our furry friends and our community. Two of my favourite things combined – helping those around us and spending time with some very good pups.

I spent a beautiful Sunday with the Thornhill Baseball Club to kick off the season. Congratulations to the coaches, staff, and players. Have a great season – the Jays need your help!

Working Hard Across Canada

I joined the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to give the keynote speech at their annual conference. For generations, Canadians could get ahead by working hard, playing by the rules, and dreaming big – that was the deal. With your help and support, we will bring it home again for hardworking people.

I spent a great evening at the 3rd Canada-India Charity Gala. Thank you, Vipul Jani, for organizing the awards to leaders in the Indo-Canadian community dedicated to a life of giving to underprivileged children in India.

It was insightful to hear from Apoorva Srivastava, Consul General of India, about the state of the relationship between 🇨🇦 and 🇮🇳. One thing is clear: it needs to grow stronger.

Thanks to the Brampton Triveni Mandir and Community Centre for having me at their grand inauguration. Centres like this offer much-needed hope as Canadians stick to the values of faith, family, and freedom.

It is a stark reminder that hate against religious communities is alive and well and Canadians from all faiths deserve a government who takes it seriously. Without freedom of religion, there is no freedom. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to make this dream a reality, and to the entire Hindu community of Brampton.

Innovation and competition are so important to Canadian businesses, but privacy remains a huge concern for consumers. It was a pleasure to join Interac and hear from some experts who know their stuff about how we can keep consumers safe from fraud.

I had a great time at the Living with Wellness Festival, a beautiful celebration of diversity, arts and culture. We joined thousands dedicated to bringing back common sense, affordable homes and lower taxes so they can once again have faith in the Canadian dream.

Congrats to all the amazing volunteers, performers and those who made today happen. Thanks to the Peel Police for celebrating with us!
