Latest from Lantsman – March 15, 2024

7 out of 10 Canadian Premiers have signed on to our call to spike Justin Trudeau’s April 1st carbon tax hike. The tax that doesn’t reduce emissions and doesn’t make Canadians better-off shouldn’t even exist, let alone be raised by 23%.

We’re going to do everything we can to pressure Liberal MPs to vote against this proposal – including holding massive Axe the Tax Rallies all across Canada. If the government can give one carve-out to Atlantic Canada – then they can give it to everyone, everywhere, right now.

Next week, we’ll return to Ottawa, where we’ll hold multiple votes to axe the tax and force Liberal MPs to go on the record.

We’ll also be debating a pro-Hamas, anti-Israel motion from the NDP – stay posted to my Facebook for the latest updates and my comments in the House on this insanity.

I’ll always stand up for you, for your family, and our values.

Yours,

Melissa Lantsman
Member of Parliament for Thornhill
Deputy Leader of Canada’s Conservatives

Breaking News

Mahmoud Abbas ruled the PA for 19 years with no election.

He denied the Holocaust.
He denied October 7.
He set up the Martyrs Fund that rewards families of terrorists who kill Jews.

A photo. No.
Stand beside him. Not good enough.
Shake his hand. Not that either.
They held this guy’s hand.

Ya’ara Saks and Mélanie Joly have lost their minds.

It’s Just Anti-Semitism

Continued escalation in the GTA’s largest Jewish neighbourhood as masked protesters target synagogues and a centre that provides housing, supports and opportunities for adults with disabilities. There are lots of places this can happen without masks in front of government institutions, consulates, embassies — not synagogues.

It’s time our laws are enforced — not just when it’s convenient for the government.

Thank you to everyone who wrote with your concerns. Rest assured – I will continue to keep working on your behalf to keep our community safe.

A Tour of JACS Toronto

Thanks Ori and Ilan at Jewish Addiction Community Services (JACS) for showing me your new office.

As a former board member and longtime supporter, I’m proud of the life saving work they do to bring those suffering from addiction home — drug free.

While clients may wait months for care from other agencies, JACS has no waitlist and also assists families.

We will end the ideological regime of free drugs and support proven solutions that lead to safer streets and improved lives, like those provided by JACS.

If you or someone you care about is looking for support, you can visit: jacstoronto.org or call 416-638-0350.

Working Hard Across the GTA

Thank you Chief Myron Demkiw and team for meeting with me.

As intimidation, violent crime and auto theft continue to surge in our city, it’s imperative that the safety of Canadians remains the #1 priority.

Justin Trudeau’s dangerous catch-and-release Bill C-75 allows repeat offenders to be released on bail within hours of arrest, who then often go and promptly re-offend.

Even after offenders have been convicted, Trudeau’s reckless Bill C-5 allows house arrest for these criminals. This means that they can just walk out their front door and be on the streets again immediately, stealing cars and terrorizing our neighbourhoods.

A Conservative government will reverse this to keep Canadians safe.

Thank you Finn, Pat, Max, and Milo 🐶 at UBCJA for showing me around your new facility in Vaughan. 👷‍♀

Great to see the next generation of women and men carpenters training.

Common-sense Conservatives will continue to support tradespeople across Canada who are working hard to help build our country.

Thank you THZ for having me as panelist. With the continued rise of antisemitism in our country, it’s important to ensure these types of conversations are being had.

It was a pleasure to speak with Johanna Novis (United Jewish Appeal) and Mark Dubowitz (Foundation for Defense of Democracies) on this issue.

Honoured to join ICRF Toronto as a mentor at their Revolving Tables event. Had some really great conversations with young professionals across different industries – all to support cancer research.
