Testimony From Randy Boissonnault’s Business Partner Suggests Serious Violation Of Ethics Laws
July 17, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – After nine years, this Liberal Government is not worth the corruption or the coverups. Already, Trudeau has been personally found guilty of breaking ethics laws, and now, following testimony from his business partner, it appears that Trudeau’s Minister for Employment may be guilty of violating Canada’s ethics laws as well.
New text messages unearthed today in a House of Commons Committee suggest that Randy Boissonnault continued to direct his company while he was a minister in Justin Trudeau’s government. In fact, Boissonnault’s companies received nearly $120 million in government grants and contracts, including during the time when he was a minister.
If Boissonnault continued to influence his company while serving as a cabinet minister, then this is a clear violation of Canada’s ethics laws.
These new text messages cover the time when Boissonnault was in cabinet and seem to show exactly that. At one point, the texts between Boissonnault’s business partner and his client refer to “Randy [being] in Vancouver” on September 6, 2022, when we know that Boissonnault was attending the Liberal Government’s cabinet retreat in the same city.
On top of this, Global News discovered last month that Minister Boissonnault’s former business partners were texting a “Randy” about deals involving a half-million-dollar payment. Yet today, Boissonnault’s business partner admitted that he had lied to Global News about the identity of the “other Randy” – confirming that it was Boissonnault.
This is not the first time that Boissonnault has not been honest with Canadians. Boissonnault has previously demonstrated dishonest behaviour as evidenced in media reports about his now proven false claims of having been a journalist and how he had first tried to conceal that he had an interest in a company that was lobbying his own government.
Boissonnault even testified that the “Randy” referenced in these texts is not him, but another “Randy” that no one has ever heard of, and who just happens to work at the company that Boissonnault has a 50 percent ownership stake in. After today’s Committee hearing, this story has fallen apart. Boissonnault’s business partner testified that there was only one Randy who ever worked at this company and that was Minister Randy Boissonnault. This confirms that there is no “other Randy.”
Worse still, these text messages include nine references to the only Randy conducting business for Global Health Imports, which points to a sitting Trudeau Minister advancing his business while serving in cabinet, which today’s witness ridiculously attempted to explain away as a result of autocorrect.
Canadians have a right to know if Boissonnault broke the law. Common Sense Conservatives have passed a motion ordering Boissonnault to testify before Committee again. If there is nothing to hide, then the Liberals will end the coverup now.
