Trudeau’s Media Buddy Was “Instrumental” In $9 Million New York City Condo Purchase

Ottawa, ON – After nine years, Justin Trudeau is not worth the cost or the corruption. While Canadians deal with the worst housing inflation in the OECD and surging rent and mortgage payments, Trudeau decided to purchase a $9 million luxury condo for his friend and media buddy, Tom Clark, on Billionaires’ Row in New York City.

Now, Canadians have discovered that Clark was “instrumental” when it came to purchasing this property, according to new documents obtained through a committee investigation. In fact, these documents reveal that Clark provided “the greenlight for the selection of the new residence” which included Italian marble, a $5,000 coffee machine and a golf simulator. Yet Tom Clark continues to tell Canadians that he had no involvement in the decision to purchase the condo.

Worse still, the decision to purchase this lavish condo only occurred after Justin Trudeau visited Tom Clark in New York City. Soon after, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) decided to purchase Clark the Billionaires’ Row apartment. They did this using new powers that Trudeau had given them which allowed GAC to purchase property up to $10 million with no oversight.

Despite the eye-watering cost of this new apartment, Clark is only paying $1,800 in rent, which is well below the average asking rent in Canada, let alone the average asking rent in Manhattan – one of the most expensive locations in the world. If Tom Clark was still living in Ottawa he would be paying considerably higher rent than he is now thanks to a massive taxpayer subsidy.

It’s clear that both Trudeau and Clark know that there’s absolutely no justification for this ridiculous spending, especially at a time when Canadians are struggling just to get by.

The investigation into the $9 million condo purchase will continue over the weeks ahead, with Trudeau’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, called to testify along with Global Affairs staff that revealed Clark was heavily involved in the process.

Only a Pierre Poilievre government will end the abuse of taxpayer dollars and bring home common sense to Ottawa.
