Trudeau’s Reckless Hard Drug Experiments Has Tragic Consequences

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – After nine years of Justin Trudeau, the NDP-Liberal Government’s radical experiments of hard drug legalization and taxpayer-funded free drugs have been a disaster.
Since Trudeau was first elected, over 42,000 Canadians have died from drug overdoses, including children. One of these children was Brianna MacDonald, who died of an overdose in a homeless encampment in Abbotsford, British Columbia. She died only a month after her thirteenth birthday.
Today, the Health Committee heard testimony from Brianna’s parents, who shared the tragic story of Brianna’s struggle with her mental health and drug use. Lance Charles, her stepfather, described how doctors discharged and dismissed his daughter time-after-time, simply sending her home with Narcan kits.
This occurred after the NDP-Liberal Government launched a radical hard-drug legalization experiment in British Columbia, devastating communities across the province.
Mr. Charles went on to blame Trudeau’s dangerous experiment for targeting children and those struggling with mental health, saying, “I do believe his policy is what really … led to her death.” When asked what his message to Justin Trudeau would be on his failed drug policies he said, “how can you put ‘safe and drugs’ in the same sentence? It doesn’t make any sense. Those two contradict each other deeply.”
This is just one tragic story of the many families who have been torn apart by the opioid crisis. Only a Common Sense Conservative government will invest in recovery and mental health support to bring our loved ones home drug-free.
