Trudeau’s Second Carbon Tax Will Cost the Economy $9 Billion By 2030

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – After nine years of the Liberal-NDP Government, life has become unaffordable for Canadians. Trudeau’s carbon tax has driven up the cost of everything, forcing Canadians to make painful financial decisions. People are skipping meals and eating less healthy food, while record numbers of Canadians are having to line up outside of food banks.

Canadians discovered today that Trudeau’s second carbon tax will cost the Canadian economy $9 billion by 2030, after the Trudeau Government quietly provided a response to Conservative questions on the matter last night. This is in addition to the $25 billion that Trudeau’s first carbon tax will cost the economy, according to the Liberal Government’s own data which they were forced to release after months of covering it up and lying to Canadians saying that the carbon tax would somehow make them richer.

NDP-Liberal carbon taxes have been shown time and time again to be nothing more than an expensive scam. According to a report from the Fraser Institute, the first carbon tax alone will cost the average Canadian worker $6,700 by 2030.

If Justin Trudeau and Carbon Tax Carney go through with their plan to quadruple the carbon tax to 61 cents per litre, the Canadian economy will lose 164,000 jobs while our GDP will shrink by 6.2 percent by 2030. The price of food, gas and heating will continue to surge. This is the last thing that Canadians need.

After 9 years of the NDP-Liberals, taxes are up, costs are up, crime is up and time’s up. The NDP must join with Common Sense Conservatives in calling for a carbon tax election so we can bring home powerful paycheques for all Canadians.
